Barefoot and Boldg, day 15, 7/27/10

Hot ‘n Thirsty

Yesterday, Tuesday, I did my first extensive “walking while barefoot.” I went around the neighborhood to hang invitations to our Spiritual Center grand opening on door knobs. (I was feeling bold.) The pavement was so, so hot. I got to thinking, what is harder to deal with, cold or hot? Hmm. I’ll find out soon enough. It was hot, but I wasn’t worried, oddly enough. It’s so clear that there is a narrative and then there is a fact. Facts: The pavement is hot. The soles of my feet are experiencing pain. When I step into shade or grass, they cool down. I had no narrative for that, and, so,didn’t suffer.

The stairs, on the other hand, where a different matter, entirely! Up sixty steps, down sixty steps, Up 45 steps, down 45 steps. Up, UP, Uuuuuuup. Ach! Thirty times for thirty houses! In the heat! Thirsty!

Thirsty! Little Annabelle’s short little legs getting tired. Oi! I had to quit . Just couldn’t take it anymore. Only 70 more houses to go. Fact: 60 steps. Tiredness. Tight calves. That’s it. The rest, lots of narrative. That said, I love walking barefoot, haven’t mentioned it in a while, I think. Yummy. I feel like a free child, a fifty three year old free child.

I asked a good friend once how old she felt as she was approaching her 84th birthday and she said, “Oh, around twenty seven.” So this doesn’t come as a surprise: I feel about seventeen, but with the wisdom of fifty three years. Well, actually, I often feel like a seven year old, clapping my hands and shouting goodygoody ;D

I went to Sufi dancing at Keystone Church, but got there a day early! Yay, tonight. I got a new red dress for the occasion at Yazdi at the Wallingford Center for only 25 dollars! Check out the pic and, yes, that’s my camera phone with which I’m taking the picture.

Green Lake Spiriual Center grand opening got a  write-up on MyGreenLake.com. Thank you, Amy Duncan! And Amy is allowing me, ever so graciously, to contribute to the blog. I’m VERY excited about that. I simply asked her and sent her to this blog for a sample of my writing.  Bold, bold bo-old :)
