The Inner Wisdom Class
Holistic Peer Counseling System
presents
Inner Wisdom Class (HPCS core class)
The Inner Wisdom Class is an inexpensive peer-to-peer counseling training that, in addition to teaching you peer-counseling techniques, embodiment techniques and energy practices, helps you to co-create a community of your peers for ongoing peer-counseling, mutual support and personal development, at no further cost.
As a result of taking the Inner Wisdom Class
- You will develop a deep and abiding relationship with your inner wisdom
- You will learn to facilitate the development of such a relationship in others
- You will feel a greater sense of wholeness, acceptance of, and love for yourself
- Your relationships, in general, will be enhanced, freer and easier
- Your personal relationships (including with yourself) will experience an enlargement in the areas of intimacy, spaciousness, generosity and understanding
- You will learn how to use energy and visualization to be present in life, rather than cope with it
- You will gain insights into your own being and your life, leading to change and even transformation
- You will learn tools that allow you to continue to produce your own insights and understandings (by yourself, and in peer counseling sessions)
- You will experience deep healing of the issues in your life (depending on where your inner wisdom guides you)
- You will come away with a gentling towards yourself and the world and a greater feeling of confidence in the innate wisdom of the process of life
HPCS believes that you are whole, wise and divine, and deeply capable, perfect as you are and also as you are not.
The Inner Wisdom Class is a gently nurturing course that is a lively synthesis of humanism, spirituality, science, ontology and psychology. It teaches you tools to access your inner wisdom, your wholeness, and your divinity, or profound beauty of self. You will learn new ways to foster your personal growth and healing, and that of others.
While we delightedly speak of your divinity, none of the HPCS classes are not religion-based, or require participants to have any particular spiritual or religious beliefs. We strongly believe that you have all the inner wisdom you need, to know what to take away from the classes and what to leave. We will always encourage you to listen to your own inner wisdom, first and foremost.
In class you will
~Mingle during Tea Time
~Receive and give compassionate and healing attention at the beginning of each class (in pairs)
~Ground, tone, breathe together in group
~Share your peer counseling experiences (Only your experience, not the experience of your peer counselor. Confidentiality is strictly observed.)
~Learn a new counseling theory in each class
~Learn a new energy exercise in each class
~Watch demonstrations
~Practice with a partner
~Q & A after practicing a new tool
~Practice what you’ve learned in scheduled peer counseling sessions between classes
The Inner Wisdom Class teaches and creates the space for
~Listening to, and working with the wisdom of your body and intuition
~Creating space for self-reflection and understanding
~Experiencing complete acceptance and regard
~Learning and personalizing deeply supportive visualizations
~Creating daily spiritual, or energy practices, depending on your personal beliefs
This 12-week, highly interactive course, is held in a comfortable living room, in a loving atmosphere that allows students to feel safe to explore new ideas and practices. Each three-hour class consists of the teaching of a counseling theory, an energy exercise, a break, sharing, and practicing what you’ve learned.
All HPCS classes share - among other things - three important principles with Carl Rogers’ client-centered therapy:
- Being congruous, or genuine, as the counselor
- Practicing complete acceptance of the counselee’s experience and unconditional regard for the counselee
- In a relationship of deep acceptance, congruousness and regard, the counselee has the innate capability to reach the kinds of insights that are transformative to ones being
And as a student you will have the pleasure of experiencing both:
- The learning of the “counselor’s attitude” as briefly described in points one and two
- The wonderfully healing and development benefits when in the counselee’s role.
